New President Shows Sense of Humor
Chile's newly sworn in president, Sebastian Pinera, made the best of the strong earthquake aftershocks which rocked his swearing in ceremony

To calm the mood during the swearing in ceremony, Sebastian Pinera quipped with invited foreign guests about the aftershocks from the earthquake which shook up central Chile last Feb. 27. Alluding to the Concertacion political alliance while laughing, the new president of Chile said "this is the work of la Concertacion to shake me up," as he received foreign presidents in the Cerro Castillo residence in Vina del Mar. The swearing in ceremony was rocked by three powerful aftershocks triggering a tsunami alert. President Evo Morales of Bolivia, alarmed by the strong tremor which struck after 11:30 A.M., vacated the congressional headquarters only to return later.
