America’s most prestigious art show, Art Basel Miami Beach, will be showcasing Latin American art from a record number of collectors from throughout Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay

There were few signs of a recession at Art Basel Miami Beach’s opening Wednesday morning. America’s most prestigious art show will be showcasing Latin American art from a record number of collectors from throughout Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. The eighth annual event, held throughout Miami Beach and Downtown Miami, may be a reasonably young fair, but upon closer inspection of the high quality of art produced in Latin America, it has become an important player in the global art scene presenting the best of Latin American art not only to the United States, but also to the world. One of the highlight exhibitions is at Mexico City’s Galeria OMR, which is showcasing is Reference Flow by Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer.
