Rebel Leaders Hide in Venezuela
Defense Minister Gabriel Silva said today that several guerrilla leaders are hiding in the neighboring country

Defense Minister Gabriel Silva Lujan said a senior commander of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and three from the National Liberation Army (ELN) have taken refuge in Venezuela. The official also indicated that the border has become an impenetrable wall for Colombian courts. In addition, the minister said that Colombia’s absence in the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), a gathering of foreign and defense ministers, does not mean the country has strayed from the group. "To not be there physically does not mean that we are absent, our position is clear and firm and we believe this will be a step within Unasur," the official said.
