President Rafael Correa led the inauguration of two new military outposts along the Colombian border

Ecuadoran President Rafael Correa inaugurated today two military outposts in the border zone of Sucumbios. During the ceremony, Correa complained that from the Colombian side there is no military presence and asked the neighboring country to make the same efforts as Ecuador to guard the border. "We urge the Colombian government, we appeal to our sister Republic of Colombia to make the same respective efforts to guard its southern border", he said. After inaugurating the deployments located in Cantagallo and Palmar, the president said that the Ecuadoran Army's mission is to ensure the protection and control of the border through constant patrols along the Putumayo River and San Miguel.
