Between Stiglitz and the OAS
Opposition arises to Nobel winning economist, Joseph Stiglitz, who criticized Mexico's management of the crisis
After Nobel Prize-winning economist, Joseph Stiglitz, said Mexico's reaction to the crisis was among the worst, the federal government and various experts are questioning the reasoning of the Columbia University professor. Treasury and Social Development secretaries said that the Nobel winner should better understand Mexico's economic reality which raised taxes and did not increase the fiscal deficit. The Economic Commission for Latin America (Cepal) said that in Mexico poverty advanced 3.1 points between 2006 and 2008, more than in any other country in the region.
