Appeal Rejected
An Ecuadoran judge rejected the suspension of the arrest order against Colombia's former defense minister, Juan Manuel Santos, and against that nation's Military Forces commander, Freddy Padilla de Leon

The judge of the Third Criminal Court of Sucumbios, Francisco Revelo, rejected the appeal presented against the suspension of a preventive arrest order against Colombia's former defense minister, Juan Manuel Santos, and its Military Forces commander, Freddy Padilla. Revelo said to local media that he did not approve the measure presented by the provincial prosecutor Carlos Jimenez, for reasons related to legal proceedings. "No legal regulation exists which decrees the appeal for the replacement of a measure, the appeals only proceed from subpoenas, summons to trial, subpoenas of remand," the judge said. The Colombian officials are accused for the March 1, 2008 bombing of Raul Reyes's FARC camp in Ecuador.
