Ford Revs Engines from Northern Mexico
The automaker starts up a diesel engine manufacturing plant in Chihuahua, but only for export
In Chihuahua, in northern Mexico, Ford opened a new plant to manufacture diesel engines. At the installation, which required an $838 million investment and will generate 1,100 jobs directly and more than 3,000 indirectly, has a production capacity of 200,000 for 6.7 V8 and 4.4 V8 diesel engines, sufficient to reach an annual target of up to 428,000 engine assemblies. The plant output is intended solely for export, mainly to the U.S.
