Finance Minister Andres Velasco acknowledges a lag in innovation

Finance Minister Andres Velasco highlighted, in his last major meeting before the country’s biggest employers, President Michelle Bachelet’s governmental fiscal policy. In his speech, he stressed the country’s backwardness in terms of innovation, noting that "Chile is doing very well in macro, in politics, in banking, but just look at how we’re doing in terms of innovation", while also stressing that the country has "the most solid fiscal position that one government has ever left another." During the Enade business gathering, before the country’s highest private sector representatives, Velasco also called for discussing a real pro-growth agenda with investment in physical and human capital.
