Colombia Denounces Venezuela before the WTO
The government will ask the ogranization to intercede in hopes of halting Venezuela’s imposed trade restrictions
Trade Minister Luis Guillermo Plata reiterated the Colombian government's decision to denounce Venezuela before the World Trade Organization (WTO) for the measures taken by their government which are hurting Colombian producers. The official said "Colombia asked Venezuela, within the (WTO) framework, to immediately lift the measure limiting Colombia’s agricultural exports, and the issuance of plant health and veterinary certificates for products derived from that country.” Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, in Aug., ordered a measure for zero trade with Colombia, thusly expressing his conformity with the Colombian and U.S. government’s military cooperation agreement.
