Argentina’s president to close Brazilian airplane purchase contract

President Cristina Fernandez’s visit to Brazil this week, among other activities, includes the signing of a definitive agreement to purchase 20 passenger aircraft for Aerolineas Argentinas (AA). This step will take place during the president's stay in Brasilia the day after tomorrow when, along with her counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will commence with the agreed upon biannual bilateral meeting between the two neighboring countries. The contract provides for the purchase of fourteen Embraer 190 aircraft with 104 passenger capacity and six Embraer 170 planes with up to 70 seats, for covering domestic routes and flights to neighboring countries.
