Postponed Again
Brazilian Senate postpones vote on Venezuela’s entry into Mercosur

The Brazilian Senate postponed the vote on Venezuela’s entry into Mercosur, scheduled for tomorrow, Wed., due to President Hugo Chávez’s statements on Sun. warning of a possible war with Colombia. The full Senate vote is the final step to finally incorporate the block of natins which also includes Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Chavez's statements in his program "Alo Presidente" last Sun., urging the Venezuelan people and the military to "prepare for war”, went over poorly with Brazilian senators who, since last Mon., discussed the possible postponement of the vote.
