Government Celebrates Improvement
According to UNDP, Venezuela is the sixth American country that offers better quality of life for its inhabitants
Venezuela ranks sixth in the continent in terms of quality of life, according to the Human Development Index published annually by the United Nations Program for development. Ahead of Venezuela is Chile (58), which is the best country in Latin America in terms of quality of life. Three spots under that we find Antigua and Barbuda (47), Argentina (49), Uruguay (50) and Cuba (51).
With respect to the 2008 measurement, Venezuela has moved up four places. The government has welcomed the achievement and ensures that the progress is due to the social policies implemented during the 10 years of the so-called Bolivarian revolution. The ranking is made with 2007 data and statistics and measures life expectancy, educational attainment, health, investment in research and development and Internet penetration in 182 UN member countries. Nigeria is the worst place on earth to live, according to the Human Development Index (HDI) published by the UN.
