U.S. to Use Seven Military Bases
Commander of the Armed Forces Freddy Padilla de Leon announced finalizing a military cooperation agreement between the U.S. and Colombian government in which the U.S. military may use seven Colombian bases
The commander of the Armed Forces of Colombia, Freddy Padilla de Leon, confirmed Tuesday that uniformed American soldiers will have a presence on seven national military bases. The General explained that on a preliminarily basis the Air Force Malambo (Atlántico), Apiay (Meta) and Palenquero (Cundinamarca), two Army units in Tolemaida (Cundinamarca), Larandia (Caqueta) and two naval bases (at Cartagena Bay in the Caribbean and at Malaga, in the Pacific). He added that the projected military agreement "benefits the U.S. and Colombia in the fight against drug trafficking."
